If there is one flavor that I know everyone loves, it is Oreos!  Add them to a cookie or cake almost every person I serve it to is going to want some.

These Oreo Sheet Cake Cookies are so amazing for a number of reasons.  First of all, they are full of Oreos in both the cookie and glaze.  They are also super easy to make because the cookie starts with a cake mix.

What sets these cookies apart however is that they will remind you of a sheet cake.  The cookie is moist and the glaze is silky smooth.  Top these little gems with a mini Oreo cookie and they are the BEST!

    Ingredients Needed

    Oreo Cake Mix Cookie

    • White Cake Mix-The perfect base for this soft and delicious sheet cake cookie.
    • All Purpose Flour-Added for a bit more structure in this cake mix cookie.
    • Eggs-To bind the ingredients together and help to give the cookies a great texture.
    • Vegetable Oil-Every good baked element needs some kind of fat and in this recipe vegetable oil is used but melted butter can be substituted.
    • Sour Cream-A couple of tablespoons in the cookie dough helps to keep the dough balanced and not over the top sweet.
    • Chopped Oreo Cookies-The size of the cookie crumbs should be larger than what we are using for the glaze.

    Oreo Cookie Glaze

    • Butter-The perfect base for this velvety and delicious glaze.
    • Milk-Added to help thin the Oreo Cookie Glaze without watering it down.
    • Powdered Sugar-This light and fluffy sugar is the perfect ingredient for sweetening the glaze without giving it any grittiness like other sugar could do.
    • Crushed Oreos-The texture of the Oreo cookies for the glaze should be very small crumbs.

How to make Oreo Sheet Cake Cookies with a Cake Mix

    1. Combine cookie ingredients in a large bowl and mix with a hand held mixer until completely incorporated.  NOTE:  Dough will be thick. Add chopped Oreo cookies and stir by hand into the cookie dough.
    2. Using a medium sized cookie scoop {or heaping tablespoon}, scoop cookies onto a silicone mat {or parchment} lined cookie sheet.
    3. Bake for 8-10 minutes, remove from the oven and let cool on a cookie sheet for 4-5 minutes before moving them to a cooling rack.  Repeat until all of the dough is baked.
    4. Combine the butter and milk in a small saucepan over medium heat and whisk until the mixture has melted.  Remove from heat, add powdered sugar and vanilla, whisk until smooth. Add crushed Oreo cookies and stir into the glaze.
    5. Gather your mini Oreo cookies so that they are ready.
    6. Pour or spoon frosting over cookies.  Use a knife or spoon to move the frosting and make sure that each cookie is covered. Top immediately with a mini Oreo cookie.  Let the frosting set and serve.

Tips for the perfect Sheet Cake Cookies

    • Keep all of the cookies the same size when baking.  That is why I always suggest using a cookie scoop.  This way the cookies all bake evenly.
    • Don’t over bake the Oreo Sheet Cake Cookies.  Remove them from the oven once they have set up but are not totally hardened.  If you over bake cake mix cookies they will take on the texture of a hockey puck.
    • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for at least 5 minutes.  This time on the baking sheet will allow the cookies to continue baking slightly and set up perfectly.
    • Add the glaze after the cookies have cooled completely.  If you add the glaze to warm cookies it will melt off and not create a great outside layer.
    • Put the mini Oreo cookie on the top of each cookie right after you add the glaze.  If you wait too long then the glaze will set up and the mini cookie will not stick.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the difference between Oreos and Cookies and Cream?

There really is not a difference between Oreos and Cookies and Cream.  Cookies and cream is just another name for an Oreo type cookie that has a cream filling.

The two can be used interchangeably but sometimes when people say Cookies and Cream the cookie might be an off brand and not Oreos.

How do I store Oreo Sheet Cake Cookies?

The best way to store these Oreo Sheet Cake Cookies is in an airtight container once the glaze has set up.  Refrigerate them to get a longer shelf life {4-5 days} or keep at room temperature for a couple of days.

    Can I freeze these cookies?

These Oreo Cookies would freeze wonderfully.  I would make sure that you have them in a good airtight container and only freeze them for up to 3 months for the very best results.
