How to make Copycat Crumbl Twix Cookies with a Cake Mix

  1. Combine the white cake mix, cornstarch and all purpose flour in a large bowl. Whisk the ingredients together to combine. Add the softened butter, shortening and eggs to the dry mixture and cream together using a hand held {or stand} mixer. The dough will be a nice thick consistency.
  2. Add in chopped Twix and stir in by hand until evenly distributed.
  3. Use a ¼ cup to measure out cookie dough onto a silicone mat {or parchment} lined baking sheet. Form the cookie dough mounds into round discs, baking 6 cookies at a time.
  4. Bake for 11-13 minutes or until the cookies are baked through but not over baked. Remove from the oven and allow them to cool completely on the baking sheet. Continue baking the 2nd batch.
  5. Once the cookies are cooled, combine caramel bits and heavy cream in a small bowl. Microwave for 45 seconds and stir. Continue to microwave in 15 second intervals {stirring in between} until you have a spreadable consistency.
  6. Take about a teaspoonful of caramel and spread onto the top of each cookie leaving about a 1/4 inch around the edge of the cookies.
  7. Unwrap all of the mini Twix bars. Then add the milk chocolate chips to a small bowl. Microwave for 45 seconds and stir. Continue to microwave in 15 second intervals {stirring in between} until you have a spreadable consistency.
  8. Take less than a teaspoonful of chocolate and spread onto the top of the caramel on each cookie leaving a bit of the caramel and cookie showing. While the chocolate is still wet place a mini Twix bar into the middle of the cookie and press down slightly.

Tips for the BEST Twix Crumbl Cookies

  • Don’t over bake the cookies.  In order to get really soft and thick cookies, be sure to pull them out of the oven when they are set.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for at least 10 minutes.  The residual heat from the baking sheet is going to help the cookies set up perfectly.
  • Make sure the cookies are cool before adding the melted caramel {or caramel sauce} and chocolate.  Otherwise it will run off of the sides of the cookie and not puddle like it should.
  • Add the mini Twix bar while the melted milk chocolate is still wet.  That way it will stick to the top of the cookie.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I make smaller cookies?

You can make smaller cookies.  Use a medium cookie scoop and bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes.  The rest of the instructions are exactly the same.  You will get about 24 small cookies from this cookie dough.

How do I store leftover Twix Cookies?

Leftover Twix Cookies store best in the refrigerator.  Once the caramel is melted it should be refrigerated and so refrigerating the cookies is a good idea.

They store well for up to 4 days as long as they are covered.

Can I use homemade caramel?

Absolutely!  If you have a homemade caramel sauce you love then go ahead and make it.  I would just be sure that the caramel doesn’t cook up and harden.  We want a soft caramel on top of the cookies.

Can I melt semi-sweet chocolate chips for the top of the Crumbl Twix Cookies?

Any kind of chocolate chips can be melted on top of the Crumbl Twix Cookies.  Milk chocolate is great because that is what is used on the outside of each Twix bar.
