I find that a lot of times people won’t prepare fruit for themselves but if you do it for them then it is the first thing to be eaten.  It is so refreshing on a warm day! How to make a 4th of July Fruit Platter

When making a Festive 4th of July Fruit Tray it is important to start with colors you want to use.  In this case, I kept with the red, white {yellow} and blue color scheme.  

Once you have established the color of fruit you want to use it makes it simple to choose what kind of fruit to use on the tray.

Keeping everything in the red, white and blue color scheme is a great way to make a patriotic impact but cutting fruit into star shapes really finishes it off.

Always select fruit that is either a melon, pineapple {which I used in this case} or some kind of apple works great too {like I did with this red white and blue salad}.  The fruit needs to be thick enough to hold the shape and sturdy enough to not fall apart.

A small star cookie cutter does the trick really easily.  I love the look that it gives this 4th of July Fruit Tray.  A side of Easy Cheesecake Fruit Dip and it is complete.

5 Tips for Choosing Fruit

  1. Decide how many different fruits you will include by how many people you are wanting to feed.  The more people, the more different kinds of fruit you will want to have because the tray will be larger.  But if you are only planning to feed a few people then I suggest keeping the amount of fruit you put on the tray to only a few.  
  2. Always include a variety of fruit.  Having a variety of fruit will give your guests choices and make the tray look really great.  I like to have a minimum of 2 different berries, a melon and 1 other fruit but there are so many options.  
  3. When choosing the fruit for your tray think about how they will look together.  I like to divide the fruit so that there is a section for everything.  But even a monochromatic selection of fruit can have a big impact.
  4. Chose fruit that can either be cut up into or is already in bite sized {2 bites tops} pieces.  Putting giant pieces of fruit on a fruit tray can make it seem unappealing.  People want to be able to dip and eat.
  5. Always make sure to select what is in season.  In the summer that is pretty simple but in the winter that can be a little trickier.  You don’t want to serve unripe fruit. 

Can I Make this 4th of July Fruit Tray the Night Before Serving?

The best way to get a head start on a fruit tray is to prepare each individual fruit and store them in separate bags overnight.  

I would not assemble the fruit tray until a few hours ahead of time but having everything prepped ahead of time makes it really easy to pull together.

4th of July Fruit Tray

Transform fresh fruit into a 4th of July Fruit Tray with a star cookie cutter and some easy 3 Ingredient Cheesecake Dip!

Ingredients

  • ½ pint raspberries
  • ½ pint blackberries
  • ½ small watermelon
  • ½ pineapple
  • 2 cups red grapes
  • 2 cups whole strawberries

Instructions

  • Cut part of the watermelon and pineapple into small chunks. Use the other part of the watermelon and pineapple to cut into stars using a small star cookie cutter.
  • Wash and dry any of the fruit that needs it and then arrange everything onto a medium-large platter {being sure to leave the watermelon and pineapple stars for the top}. Add a bowl of 3 Ingredient Cheesecake Dip and serve! Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
