Ingredients needed to make Salted Buttered Pecans

  • 1 pound of Pecan halves-pecans can be a little expensive but if you purchase them somewhere like Costco they can be very affordable.
  • Melted Butter-I just used the microwave to melt it and it only takes about 30 seconds.
  • Kosher Salt-table salt will not give you the same grit and flavor.

How to make Toasted Butter Pecans in the Oven

In a medium bowl combine the pecan halves, melted butter and kosher salt.  Stir until all of the pecans are evenly coated.

Spread them evenly onto a baking sheet that is covered with a silicone mat {or parchment paper}.

Bake in a preheated 300 degree oven for 15-20 minutes or until you can start to smell the pecans toasting.

Remove them from the oven and allow them to cool before using them in a recipe.

Cooling the Salted Buttered Pecans

To cool the Butter Pecans you can leave them on the baking sheet and place it on a cooling rack for about 20 minutes.

You can also transfer the pecans to a clean towel and allow them to cool.  The benefit of doing it this way is that it will help soak up any extra butter.

Can I use the microwave instead of the oven to make Butter Pecans?

Yes, you can use the microwave.  Mix the pecans, butter and salt in a bowl and place them onto a microwave safe plate in a single layer.  This will take a few times to get them all done.

Microwave them for 1 minute intervals, stirring between intervals until they are golden brown.

What recipes can I use Salted Buttered Pecan in?

The possibilities of recipes to use Buttered Pecans are endless but this Buttered Pecan Cream Pie is my absolute favorite.

It can also be used in chocolate chip cookies {like these Butter Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookies}, in the crumb topping of a Banana Crumb Cake, in salads or any other place you would put pecans.

They can be chopped up or left whole and take any pecan recipe to the next level!

Made these at Thanksgiving. Used raw pecans from Costco and Himalayan salt from Aldi. Roasted on a silicone sheet on a baking sheet. After 20 minutes, turned off oven, cracked open the door and left for ten more minutes. Turned out great. Yum.
