- Pie Crust-I have used a frozen pie crust that I baked but there are so many options. You can use a refrigerated pie crust or even an Oreo pre-made crust from the baking section.
- 1 Box of Instant Chocolate Pudding-this little box of magic allows the pie to set up quickly.
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder-for an added punch of chocolate flavor.
- Heavy Cream-to give the filling that creamy texture and body.
- Whipped Topping-piled on top of the chocolate filling, whipped topping is velvety texture.
- Chocolate Shavings {optional}-there are so many things you can use for a topping {chocolate candies, sprinkles} but these shavings are extra fun and easy to make.
See recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

Variations
There are times when you are looking for a variation to a recipe. Whether it is because you don’t have everything on hand or just feel like changing it up…here are some ideas for this Chocolate Mousse Pie.
Crust-instead of using a baked frozen crust, use refrigerated pie crust, buy a pre-made Oreo or graham cracker crust from the baking section of the grocery store.
If you want to make the crust from scratch, use this Oreo crust recipe or try this shortbread crust for a fun twist.
Pudding-this recipe calls for chocolate pudding but that doesn’t mean you can’t substitute it for chocolate fudge or even cookies and cream instant pudding.
Toppings-use chocolate candy, chocolate sprinkles, fresh fruit or even cookies instead of chocolate shavings.

Yes, you can make this pie a day or so in advance. I would hold off on adding the whipped topping until a few hours before serving.

This Easy Chocolate Mousse Pie is good for 2-3 days in the refrigerator. If left much longer the pie crust can start to get soggy.
Can I freeze this pie?
Yes, you can freeze this Chocolate Mousse Pie. Put the entire pie on a baking sheet and freeze for a couple of hours.
After the pie is frozen, place it in a large freezer bag {or wrap well in plastic wrap} and freeze for up to 3 months.
To thaw, refrigerate the pie until ready and then add the whipped topping and chocolate shavings.
Pro Tips
- Put your pre-made pie crust in a pie plate so that it looks awesome. It will also give the no bake pie some added sturdiness.
- Don’t skip the whisking of dry ingredients. Any imperfections in the mixture will be hard to get rid off once you add the heavy cream.
- If you don’t plan to serve the pie for awhile then wait to add the whipped topping and chocolate curls. This will keep the pie super fresh.
