1. Choose a Good Space

The first step to any great dessert table is finding a great space.  The table should be in a place that everyone can access easily.

It should also be somewhere that guests can either get around or along one side of without any obstacles.

In both this table and my Thanksgiving Dessert Table I have used the sofa table behind my couch.

2. Use Halloween Colors for Food and Other Elements

Being festive and using Halloween colors for your Halloween Dessert Table is always a good idea.

Whether that be with the food, table cover, paper products or serving dishes it is a great starting point when planning.

3. Vary Serving Pieces to add Height

In order for your desserts to stand out, it is important for the serving pieces to be different heights.

Using some that are flat on the table, as well as pieces that are taller with varying heights allows you to see all of the desserts.

This can also be a great place to add color and texture to your Halloween Dessert Table.

4.  Have a clear beginning

Placing your serving pieces {forks, plates, napkins} on one end of the table will give a clear beginning point for your guests.

This allows everyone to know where to start and eliminates everyone starting in different areas and creating chaos.

5.  Be sure to add silverware, napkins and plates

Be sure to add silverware, napkins and plates for guests to use.  What you put out will depend on your menu and what guests will need.

If you are serving finger foods, then only put out napkins but if they need a fork and plate, be sure to make them available.

6. Pick a Focus Dessert

Go through your menu and pick a focus dessert that will be at the middle of the Halloween Dessert Buffet.

The dessert should be something that is festive or colorful and deserves to be centerstage.

7. Label Desserts

It is important to label desserts on a dessert table so that guests know what they are choosing from.

Whether you put everything on one board or decide to individually label each dessert, it is a fun way to add character to your Halloween table.

8. Keep your Halloween Dessert Table Simple

Don’t go overboard when you are planning what to serve.  Over committing to an abundance of desserts can be stressful.

Plan your dessert menu with items that can either be made ahead and frozen or won’t take much time on the day of the Halloween party.  The important part is to enjoy yourself.

9. Use a mix of Homemade & Store Bought Desserts

As you are planning your simple party menu make sure to include some store bought desserts.

Using a mix of homemade and store bought items will give you the luxury of added time to spend with your guests.

10.  Keep the table cover simple so the food will stand out

Don’t use a table covering that is too busy and can take away from the food.  It is important to use something simple.

By using a covering that is somewhat plain you will ensure that your food will stand out which is the goal!

11.  Make No Bake Treats if you are short on time

There are so many wonderful no bake desserts that can be made without even turning on the oven.

If you find yourself running short on time, that is a great way to get desserts made quickly.

12. Add Fun Halloween Candy

Adding a cute bowl of Halloween candy to your Halloween Dessert Table is the perfect way to add a colorful and festive addition without any extra work.

This little bowl of candy pumpkins was a cute way to add a little sweetness to the table.

13. Separate drinks from desserts

When you are planning a party of any kind it is important to have a different area for everything.  That means keeping drinks and desserts separately.

By keeping everything in different areas it not only allows guests to wander around the party area but also keeps areas from getting congested.

14. Make your Halloween dessert table look full… even if you have to use items twice.

The biggest thing about any kind of dessert table is to make it look super full even if that means using dessert items a couple of times on the table.

Keeping a full table will make it more inviting and have your guests feel more drawn to grabbing something from it.

15. Provide a garbage can

Place a garbage can by the dessert table so that guests can easily throw any paper goods or uneaten items away.

This will help with your cleanup later and helps guests from having to look for one.

The most important thing is to have a blast and enjoy your guests.  Creating these memories with those you love are priceless and that is what it is all about!
