I could do an entire post on all of the things I use mason jars for in the kitchen.  Mixing salad dressing, storing garlic and as a cookie cutter holder but using them to hold a frozen adult beverage is by far my favorite.

I used strawberries, raspberries and blueberries for the mixed fruit in this frozen daiquiri recipe.  But in the summer, fruit is plentiful so you can really mix and match fruits according to what you like and what’s available.

There is something about a fruity frozen drink that transports me to the tropics.  I bet if you close your eyes you can actually feel the warm breeze, sand in your toes and sun beaming on your face as you sip this drink.

How to make your Mixed Fruit Frozen Daiquiri

Begin by putting 2 1/2 cups of strawberries that are cut in half into the blender.

Then add a 1/2 pint of raspberries and 1/4 cup of blueberries.

To sweeten this frozen daiquiri up and add a little extra flavor:  Pour 1/2 cup of lime simple syrup into the blender.  Blend until the mixture is smooth.

Regular simple syrup will work here too, just dissolve equal amounts of sugar and water.

Now for the best part {in my opinion}, add 1/2-3/4 cups of vodka.  The amount really depends on what you prefer and if you would rather omit it altogether, then by all means, please do so.

For the “frozen” addition, ice is added.  I used about 1 1/2 cups because I like for it to be thick but not super icy.  Again, this is personal preference.

Blend once again, until smooth and pour into small mason jars.  It will fill 2 jars completely or three about 2/3 full with the frozen daiquiri recipe.

The texture as this point is everything.  It is velvety and smooth which is exactly what I am looking for in a daiquiri.  I have to admit that it is rare that the drinks ever make it past this point.

How to Freeze a Daiquiri

But sometimes we need to make them ahead of time.  To do that, just put the lid on the mason jar.

And place the jars into the freezer.  I prefer to put them on the door because it tends to be a little cooler.  The idea is that the alcohol in the drink will keep it from freezing solid.

The top will freeze over though and so it will need to set out on the counter for about a 1/2 hour.  If you want a sugared rim then dampen the top of your jar, turn it over {while it is still frozen} and dip it into the sugar.

Sometimes I will garnish with a lime but just a straw is great too.  If you want to take it over the top, then add whipped cream.

I love having them on hand when friend shows up and in just a few minutes we have a delicious and fruity beverage that I didn’t even have to think about.  Summer just got a whole lot better!
