Servings: 12 servings
- 1 stick butter or ½ cup {cut into 6-8 cubes}
- 1 box vanilla cake mix {divided} - 13.25 ounces
- 1 ½ cups milk
- 4-5 small Granny Smith Apples
- 1 ½ cups brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
Preheat the oven to 350°. Place the cubes of butter into the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish and place in the oven until melted. Remove once it is melted and set aside.
Core, peel and thinly slice the apples. Place them in a large bowl and add ¼ cup of dry cake mix, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix until the apples are well coated.
In another large bowl, whisk together the remaining dry cake mix and the milk. Pour batter into the baking dish and over melted butter. Then pour the apple mixture over the batter {making sure to distribute them evenly}.
Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the apple cobbler is golden brown. Serve your cake mix apple cobbler warm or store at room temperature for up to 4 days.
- I love to serve this cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream but this homemade whipped cream would also be wonderful.
