Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ large onion {chopped}
  • 2 cloves garlic {minced}
  • ½ pound lean ground beef {I used 93% lean}
  • 3 cans pork and beans {16 ounces each}
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup brown sugar {packed}
  • 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoon yellow mustard

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°.
  • In a heavy bottom pan {that is oven safe} or Dutch oven, over medium heat add olive oil and cook onion until it is translucent {or soft}. Add ground beef and garlic, continue to cook over medium heat until browned.
  • While the ground beef is browning, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar and mustard, whisk to combine. Add mixture and pork and beans to the onion/ground beef and stir to combine.
  • Place the Dutch oven in the preheated oven, uncovered for 45-50 minutes. Remove and serve warm. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

Once completely cooled to room temperature, leftover baked beans can be stored in an airtight container or covered with aluminum foil in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Baked beans with ground beef can also be frozen in a freezer safe container for up to 3 months.
