Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • 8 slices bacon {cooked} I like peppered bacon.
  • 8 slices cheese I used Colby Jack
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tablespoons parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Remove puff pastry from freezer about 20-30 minutes before you are ready to use them and preheat oven to 400°.
  • Unfold both sheets of puff pastry and cut each one into 4 squares. I like to use a pizza cutter.
  • Sprinkle each square with a bit of garlic powder and black pepper. Top with a piece of bacon {cut down into thirds/or half} and a slice of cheese.
  • Fold each square in half, making a triangle. Using the tines of a fork, crimp the perimeter of the triangle to seal the edges of the turnover. Then use the tines of the fork to poke 2-3 holes in the top of turnover to allow for steam to escape while they bake. Whisk the egg well and then brush over the top of each turnover. Sprinkle with additional garlic powder and black pepper, along with a bit of parmesan cheese {if desired}.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until the turnovers are golden brown and the pastry is puffed. Serve warm or cool and store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
