It is a little embarrassing to admit but we are paper plate users at my house.  During the week when we are in a rush, I don’t even set the table.  Dinner is served buffet style at the stove top and paper plates are the serving dish of choice.  On special holidays {like Thanksgiving} however, I like to up my game a bit.  I want real plates {such a crazy idea}, napkins folded nicely and place card holders so that everyone knows where to sit.  There are a lot of ideas out there but these guys are my favorite for a couple of reasons…#1 they are as cute as can be and #2 they are edible…these are a win-win in my book.

Everything you need to make these sweeties you will find in your grocery store and we are using melted chocolate as glue {why can’t we always}.  Make it a family affair and get everyone involved!  They can take a little time but don’t be scared off…you can snack as you work!

Ingredients

  • 24 Reeces peanut butter cups {regular sized}
  • 12 Rolo candies {aka turkey bodies}
  • 12 Whopper candies {aka turkey heads}
  • 72 candy corn candies {aka turkey feathers & beaks}
  • 24 edible eyeballs
  • 12 red sprinkles {turkey gobblers}
  • 1/2 cup chocolate melting wafers

Instructions

  • Melt chocolate wafers in microwave.  Start with 30 seconds, stir and add 10 second increments until smooth and melted.
  • Cut the bottom 1/4 off of 12 peanut butter cups {discard bottom portion} and attach 5 candy corns to larger piece using melted chocolate in a fan shape.
  • Once the candy corns have adhered well, attach that piece, on the cut edge {using melted chocolate} to the back portion of the whole peanut butter cup.  Keep the wrapper on the bottom piece for easier handling.
  • Cut a small piece off each Rolo candy {it will give you a flat edge} and attach the cut part to the whole peanut butter cup with the larger flat end pointed out {using melted chocolate}. {It needs to be in front of the peanut butter cup with candy corn.}
  • Add a Whopper candy to the top of the Rolo candy and attach {using melted chocolate}.
  • Cut the white end off of 12 candy corn candies {aka turkey beak} and attach to the front of the whopper {using melted chocolate}.
  • Add two edible eyeballs to each Whopper candy {using melted chocolate}.
  • Add a red sprinkle below the candy corn {using melted chocolate}.
  • To add a name, tape paper onto a toothpick and insert into peanut butter cup.

Notes

*These would also be cute on your dessert table or as a personalized gift for family and friends.
