Basic Cookie Dough Recipe
One cookie dough and dozens of possibilities!

- 1 cup butter or margarine {softened}
- 1/2 cup shortening {I use butter flavored}
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar {packed}
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 cups all purpose flour
Preheat oven to 350°.
Beat butter or margarine, shortening and both sugars together until light and creamy. Next, add the eggs and vanilla, mix until combined.
In a separate bowl combine baking powder, salt and all purpose flour. Add at once to the butter and sugar mixture, mix until just combined using your electric mixer.
Add any add-ins and stir to combine. Drop cookies onto a parchment or Silpat lined baking sheet using a cookie scoop and bake for 9-11 minutes. Cool your basic cookie dough recipe on cookie sheet for 10 minutes and then transfer to cooling rack. Enjoy.
Cranberry Bliss Cookies-
Add-ins: 1 teaspoon of orange zest, 1 cup white chocolate chips and 1/3 cup chopped dried cranberries.
Thumbprints:
Bake as directed. Remove from oven and using the back of the cookie scoop make an indention into the middle of each cookie, fill with 1 teaspoon of your favorite jam. Cool completely and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Double Chocolate:
*Make chocolate cookie dough and bake as directed. Add-ins: Melt 6 bars of White Almond Bark and dip each cookie halfway into almond bark. Add sprinkles if desired. Place onto wax paper to dry.
Chocolate Peanut Butter:
*Make chocolate cookie dough. Add-in: Place 5-6 peanut butter chips into the top of each unbaked cookie and bake and directed.
Chocolate Sprinkle Kiss:
*Make chocolate cookie dough. Add-in: 24 Hershey's kisses. Bake as directed. Remove from oven and push a candy kiss into the middle of each cookie. Move to cooling rack and let cool completely (the kiss will be soft for an hour or so).
