I didn’t venture far from the recipe that is right on the back of the Rice Krispie Box.  I do however, like to add a few additional marshmallows at the end.  It is nice to get pockets of marshmallow here and there.

Making the Rice Krispie Treat Mixture

Rice Krispies are one of my all time favorite cereal’s.  Of course, it might be more like a little Krispies with my sugar when I eat it.  If there aren’t mounds of sugar at the bottom of the bowl…then you aren’t living.

Normally, I am not a marshmallow lover but add some butter, melt them and my mind is changed.

Look at that velvety GOODNESS!!

Molding Krispie Treats in a Mini Bundt Pan

I used a mini bundt pan to mold my nests but you can use a donut pan or any other vessel that you have on hand.  Spray each section with non-stick spray.

My trick for Rice Krispie Treats is to put a small Ziploc bag on my hand and spray it with non-stick spray.

It allows you to handle the sticky Krispie mixture without it sticking to your hands.  It also works great for pressing it down into the pan.

Be sure to compact it down into the pan pretty tightly, so that it will be a sturdy little nest.

It only took about 15 minutes at room temperature for the Krispie mixture to set up.  I used a butter knife to pop them out of the pan easily.

Turning Mini Krispie Bundts into Bird Nests

For the actual nest, I used Green Wafer Shreds from Wilton.  I found them at Target.  You can find similar ones here at Amazon.

A little sprinkle on the top of each bundt is all they needed.  Because the Krispie mixture is still slightly sticky, they will stick to it pretty easily but you might need to press down slightly.

Now it is time for those incredible edible eggs!  Not only delicious but also beautiful!

To make sure that they stuck to the top nicely, I used a little melted white almond bark.  Applying it with a toothpick allows you to only put on as much as you need.

Aren’t they SUPER adorable?  There are times when I think of an idea and it just doesn’t quite live up to what I had imagined but not these sweeties.  They are everything I had hoped they would be and I think I am in love.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 5 cups mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispie Cereal
  • 24 Mini Cadbury Eggs
  • Wilton Shredded Green Wafers
  • 1 cube white almond bark {melted}

Instructions

Rice Krispie Mixture

  • In a sauce pan, melt butter over medium-low heat.  Once melted, add 4 cups of marshmallows and stir until they are completely melted.  Remove from heat, add Rice Krispie Cereal and extra cup of marshmallows.  Stir until the Krispies are completely coated.  NOTE:  The marshmallows you add at the end won't completely melt.

Molding Bundts

  • Spray each cavity of mini Bundt pan with non-stick spray.  Prep a small Ziploc bag by spraying one side of it with non-stick spray, it will act like a glove to help keep the mixture from sticking to your hand.  Divide Krispie mixture between the 12 bundt cavities and pack down.  Let the bundts set up for at least 15 minutes and then use a butter knife to pop them out of pan.

Making Nests

  • Add shredded green wafer sprinkles to the top of each bundt.  You might have to press down slightly.  Melt one white almond bark cube in the microwave and use it as the glue to stick two mini Cadbury Eggs on top of each bundt.  Let them set up for a few minutes to allow for the bark to dry.  Store in an air tight container at room temperature for up to a week.
