Now don’t get me wrong.  There is a time and a place for recipes that take time.  Recipes that are slow cooked and have a lot of steps.  I actually dream of days when I get up late, scurry around the house and have extra time to make everything from scratch.  Then I wake up and realize that I am a working mom who is trying to create a successful blog in her spare time.  There are days when there isn’t time to get the laundry done.  Forget homemade bread for dinner.

Thankfully, making these could not be simpler.  Instead of unrolling the dough, keep it in a long round roll and slice it into 12 even pieces.  Using a serrated knife works great.

To make the filling, combine all of the ingredients and mix until everything is evenly distributed.

To keep the filling inside the crescent dough, form the dough to make a rim around the edge of each slice.

Evenly distribute the filling between the 12 slices, being sure to spread it out but not past the outside lip that you just created.

Before baking them, add a small slice of pickled jalapeno to the top of each bite.

Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown.

The end result is a super flavorful and delicious appetizer that will be gone in no time.  It will be a party favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg refrigerated crescent dough
  • 4 oz. cream cheese {softened}
  • 3 slices bacon {cooked and diced}
  • 2 tbsp pickled jalapenos {diced}
  • 1/4 cup cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Remove crescent roll dough from package but do not unroll. Cut roll of dough into 12 equal slices {I used serrated knife}. Place slices about 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Press each slice into a round that is about 2” in diameter, making sure to keep a ridge around the outer edge {this will hold in the filling}.
    In a small bowl combine the cream cheese, bacon, jalapenos, cheddar cheese and garlic powder. Mix until everything is evenly distributed and divide the mixture between the 12 slices of dough {about 1 heaping teaspoon each}. Be sure to press and spread the mixture onto the dough and up to the outer edge {but not beyond}. OPTIONAL: Place 1 small pickled jalapeno slice on the top of each piece. Bake for 9-11 minutes {or until golden brown} and serve warm.
