Cream Cheese Chocolate Cookies Recipe with a Cake Mix

Adding cream cheese to a cake mix cookie is such a fabulous idea!  Let’s face it…one of the things we love about cookies is that they are sweet!  That isn’t to say that they can’t get a little too sweet.  Adding cream cheese to the dough keeps just the right balance.  However, the very best part about these cookies is just how simple they are to make.  With only 4 ingredients and no chill time, you can have Cream Cheese Chocolate Cookies with a Cake Mix in less than an hour.

These cookies are a variation of the Cream Cheese Cookies with a Cake Mix that I made a couple of weeks ago.  They were such a fabulous cookie that I knew I needed to try another combination.

Chocolate was of course the first flavor that came to mind, although I can think of at least a dozen others.  Coming up with cookie flavors is the highlight of my week.

Cake mix cookies are especially awesome.  Creating varieties of cookies with a mix means that you can use less ingredients and can make them in no time.

One thing that is super important to me is being able to make awesome food while not spending my life in the kitchen.  So recipes like these Cream Cheese Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies are perfect for that.

5 Secrets To The Perfect Cookie

Tips & tricks to achieve the most delicious cookies of your life!

How to make Cream Cheese Cookies with a Chocolate Cake Mix

Begin by creaming together the cream cheese and the butter with a hand held mixer {or by hand}.  It is important to do this step before adding anything else to the dough so that the cream cheese will combine into the mixture without lumps.

Once that is creamy, add the egg and vanilla, mix to combine.

Then add the chocolate cake mix {if your mix has lumps then be sure to whisk or sift to remove them.  See all of my cake mix baking tips here}.  Continue to mix until you have a thick chocolaty dough.

Using a medium cookie scoop {or 1 1/2 tablespoons}, scoop mounds of dough onto a silicone mat {or parchment} lined baking sheet.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 9-11 minutes.  Make sure the cookies are set but not over done.

The hardest thing when working with a cake mix is baking the cookies because they can easily over bake.  The difference between a soft, velvety cookie and a hockey puck is literally only a couple of minutes.

Cool the cookies completely on the baking sheet and continue baking until all of your dough is gone.

Once all of the cookies are baked and cooled, put them onto a silicone or parchment lined baking sheet {easy clean up}.  Sprinkle liberally with powdered sugar.
