Hi, I am June!  Welcome to Practically Homemade, my home on the internet.

I’m here to help you simplify your life in the kitchen and get good food on the table for your family using all of the tips, tricks and shortcuts that I have learned from being a restaurant owner, culinary teacher and most of all…MOM.  I firmly believe that dinner {and even dessert} doesn’t have to be completely homemade to be totally delicious and I am here to prove it.

Life may be a little more slow paced around here {I live in a small town that doesn’t even have a stop light and I am 3 hours from the nearest Target} but that doesn’t mean that we aren’t busy.  My family {husband-my Darb, kids-Tate aka my Tater, Taylea aka my Tales, step daughters, Harley & Lanie and fur baby-sweet Sage} is very much like yours and so I understand how crazy life can get.  Meetings, ball practice and other activities can make it really hard to keep up with life…let alone dinner. That is why I think it is so important to keep things simple.

From a very young age I have loved to be in the kitchen {I decorated my first cake at 9 years old}.  I was taught by my mama and the school of hard knocks {lots of trial and error}. When my children were young I ran a cake decorating business from the second story of a local car parts store {keeping it classy} and before I became a high school culinary teacher I owned/operated a cute local deli.  I strive for my food and home to be an extension of myself because being authentic is important to me. When I am not in the kitchen you can find me outdoors, I love to run, hike, garden and soak up the sunshine.

Sharing what works for me when it comes to meal planning, shopping and preparing food is passion.  Nothing too fancy or complicated, just tried and tested ideas and recipes from my home to yours.   I invite you to pull up a chair and look around. Thanks for stopping by.
