Why is it called Almond Bark?

For years this candy coating has been the key ingredient in “almond bark”.  In fact it was packaged for a long time with the words “make your own almond bark”.

Over time, the ingredient became known as the candy is was used to make.

How to make No Bake Peppermint Oreo Bark

To begin, melt your almond bark in a microwave safe bowl.  Start with 1 minute, stir and add 30 second intervals until the almond bark is completely melted.

Pour half of it out onto a parchment or wax paper lined baking sheet and spread it out into a thin, even layer.

Working before the chocolate has set up, add Oreo Thin cookies to the top of the almond bark.  Pushing down slightly as you add each cookie.

Then go over with peppermint {I used white chocolate with peppermint in it but you can use crushed peppermint too} and drop it all over the white chocolate.  Press down slightly.

Let everything set up for at least an hour.  You want all of the almond bark to harden back up.

Once the almond bark is solidified, break up the bark into pieces.  I like to have pieces that are all different sizes and shapes but you can use a knife to cut it if you want them to be more even.
