25 Random Facts about Me

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE SALES LINKS. PLEASE SEE OUR FULL DISCLOSURE POLICY FOR DETAILS

When I read a blog, I always think it is fun to learn a little more about the person behind the post.  It can give a little insight into their web space and how they write.  I try to keep things at Practically Homemade all about food but I thought it might be fun, so I asked my Facebook Friends what they wanted to know.  Then freaked out a little because lets face it…I am pretty boring and what if NOBODY responded?  I was relieved to find that a few readers took pity on me…so here we go.

1. What was your favorite subject in school?  Home Ec…obviously 🙂

2.  What is your favorite {easy} go to item to make?  Pasta, it doesn’t take much time and you can add whatever you have in your fridge…no recipe necessary.

3.  What is your favorite drink?  Diet Coke…I know it is bad for me but I have been addicted for years.

4.  Favorite goodie/sweet treat to make?  Cookies…if you have been reading my blog then this is not a surprise.

5.  How do you refrain from eating all of the cookies you bake?  I don’t…I have very little will power and my growing waistline does not lie.  I need to start giving them away…who wants cookies?!?

6.  What is the last thing you bought?  A sweatshirt for Bunco next month.  The theme is Red Lips and this girl doesn’t wear lipstick {especially red}, so I am improvising.

7.  Have you always liked to cook/bake?  Yes, or at least for as long as I can remember I have.  I was taking cake decorating classes when I was 9 or 10.

8.  What made you want to start a blog?  To be completely honest…I think I suffer from FOMO {fear of missing out}.  I have always loved to read food blogs and one day I thought…I can do that!!  The reality is that…IT IS A LOT OF HARD WORK but thankfully I love it!

9.  Favorite childhood memory?  Much to my mothers dismay, I don’t have a ton of childhood memories.  I know I had a good childhood but as for a specific memory…my sister accidentally squirting mustard all over my moms blue polyester pants on a trip.  Although, I remember her being super ticked off…we have gotten a lot of laughs from it and still do!

10.  Are you married? Yep…for the second and final time to…my Darb.

11.  How many kids do you have?  2 biological {Tate, 20 & Taylea, 18} & 2 stepchildren {Harley, 16 & Lanie, 13}

12.  If you could only bake one thing, just for the sheer joy of it, and never be able to make your stuff again, what would it be?  This is a hard one…I am going to say anything, as long as it was with my Grandma Anna Mae or Grandma Pearl.

13.  On average, how many glasses of wine are consumed for each recipe?  Well, because I have been stuffing my face with cookies…I haven’t been drinking much wine {balance…right??}.  But I do remember a Thanksgiving when I drank so many glasses of wine that we almost didn’t have dinner! YIKES

14.  Favorite place to shop?  Target, I could set up camp and live there!

15.  Favorite Restaurant?  Kimos, a restaurant in Maui.  The food + the view=perfection!

16.  Favorite blog {that isn’t your own}? Sally’s Baking Addiction…she is an awesome baker.

17.  If you could travel anywhere…where would you go?  I would always choose Maui but if I got to choose somewhere I have never been…it would be the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

18.  Favorite TV show?  Fixer Upper, I am very sad that the final season is almost over.

19.  What phone do you have?  An Iphone but I have no idea what number it is…it works…that is all I care about.

20.  How tall are you?  5’3″ on a good day.

21.  Do you have pets?  Yes, a neurotic Yorkie named Sage & a Bearded Dragon named Sy {who we thought was a boy and now we think “he” might be a girl}

22.  Who is your loudest friend?  Jenn…and I love her for it!!

23.  Favorite romantic meal for 2?  Reservations!!  But…if I had to make something I would do Steak & Shrimp with rice pilaf, green salad and chocolate molten lava cakes.

24.  What is your favorite time of the day?  The first 15-20 minutes of my day because I dedicate it to reading devotionals, writing in my journal and enjoying some quiet time before the chaos begins.

25.  Your biggest dream?  Can I have 2?  #1-I dream of this little ole blog going viral and getting thousands of views per month. #2-I dream of my kids finding huge success and a ton of happiness!

There you have it!  I am food loving, middle aged mama…who can’t remember anything.  I enjoy time to myself, large amounts of cookies, my friend Jenn, blogging, Maui, Target and Diet Coke.  I am short, don’t wear lipstick, dream big and have been known to drink too much wine BUT most of all…I love my Darb and kids more than life itself!  Thanks for reading!
