5 Secrets To The Perfect Cookie

Tips & tricks to achieve the most delicious cookies of your life!

What is the difference between a Cake and a Bundt Cake?

The biggest difference between a cake and a Bundt cake is the shape.  A Bundt cake pan usually has fluted edges and the defining center tube.

You can also get super creative with Bundt cake recipes because they don’t conform to any “certain recipe”.  Anything goes and that allows you to combine flavors that you might not do with a layered cake.

Top 5 Tips for the Perfect Bundt Cake

It is true, sometimes Bundt cakes can be a little intimidating but don’t let them be.  I have a handful of tips that can really take your Bundt cake baking to the next level.

  1. Spray the Bundt pan well with nonstick spray.  You can even add some all purpose flour and dust the pan as well.  Even if the pan is nonstick it is important to prepare the pan well.
  2. Don’t over bake the Bundt cake.  A few additional minutes in the oven can create a dry cake that is hard to cover up with any amount of glaze or frosting.
  3. Pull the Bundt cake recipes from the oven once the toothpick only has a few crumbs {but not any raw cake batter}.  For years they have been telling us to wait for the toothpick to come out clean but if you wait that long the cake will be too dry.
  4. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes and sometimes longer.  Make sure that you are reading the recipe all of the way through because it will give you the correct time.  If you try to turn the cake out too soon the cake will more than likely stick to the pan.
  5. Cool the cake completely before adding any kind of glaze or frosting.  If you try to add it while the cake is warm then the glaze or frosting will melt and not form a nice topping to the cake.
