One of the more popular recipes on my site is the one for One Rise Cinnamon Rolls.  That isn’t a surprise to me.  Who wouldn’t love to be able to make tender homemade bread in just about an hour?  Taking the first rise out of the equation is how we are able to do it.  All the dough needs is a 10 minute rest and you are able to shape it however you want.  The dough itself is such a dream to work with.  I decided to show you how easy it is to make One Rise Crescent Rolls because wouldn’t they be fantastic on your Thanksgiving menu!?

I love making homemade bread but I will admit, I don’t like committing to the time it takes.  This recipe has been the answer to my inpatient prayers.  One of the things I love doing to speed things up even more is to turn my oven on to 175 degrees when I begin making my dough.  Before I start shaping my rolls, I turn the oven off and let it set until my rolls are ready to rise.  Then I stick them into the warm oven and they are ready to bake in no time.  Essentially we are turning our oven into one of those fancy proofing machines.  It is magical.

5 Secrets To The Perfect Cookie

Tips & tricks to achieve the most delicious cookies of your life!

Here are some recipes that these One Rise Crescent Rolls would pair perfectly with…Butternut Squash & Parm Pasta, Chicken Parm Ravioli Bake, and Meatball & Mozzarella Skillet.

Begin by warming the milk and butter in the microwave.  The butter might not melt all of the way but it will from the heat of the milk.

While that is cooling just a bit, combine the flour, yeast, sugar and salt.

Once the milk mixture is cooled enough to not scramble your egg {but is still warm}, add both the milk/butter mixture and egg to the dry ingredients and mix together with the paddle attachment.

When all of that is combined well, change to the dough hook and start adding additional flour.  Be sure to only add a little at a time.  Continue until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl {it will still be sticky}, continue to knead it with the dough hook for about 4 minutes.

Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and let it rest for 10 minutes.

When ready, roll the dough out into a large circle.  I used a pizza pan as a guide.

Cut the dough into 12 triangles {I used a pizza cutter} and roll them, beginning at the wide end.

Place onto a greased or parchment lined baking sheet.  Cover and let rise in warm place {*see note} for 25-30 minutes.  Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Be prepared for you house to smell like heaven and for golden rolls of goodness to be pulled from your oven.

Not a bad result for an hour of work in my opinion!  Look at those pockets of goodness!  They will soak up the butter, honey, jam, gravy…whatever it is you desire.  Put this recipe on your Thanksgiving Menu now!!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter {cut into cubes}
  • 3 1/4-3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 pkg instant yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  • Place milk and butter in a glass measuring cup and microwave for 1 minute 20 seconds. Butter might not be totally melted but that's alright, it will continue to melt from the heat of the milk. Set aside. In a large bowl mix together 2 cups flour, yeast, sugar and salt. When milk mixture has cooled a bit {but should still be warm} add it to the flour mixture, along with the egg. Using the paddle attachment, mix until combined. Switch to the dough hook and add remaining flour. The amount will vary a bit, start with an additional cup and up to a total of 3 1/2 cups. Dough will leave the sides of the bowl. Continue mixing with the dough hook for 4 minutes {this will act as your kneading step}. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and let rest for about 10 minutes.
  • Roll rested dough into a large circle. Cut into 12 equal triangles {like a pizza}, I like to cut the dough in half, then each half in half and then finally 3 triangles from each quarter. Roll each crescent by starting at the wide end and rolling toward the center.  Place onto a greased or parchment lined cookie sheet.  Let rolls sit in a warm place {see notes} for 20-30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake risen rolls for 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

  • To help the dough rise faster:  While you are preparing your dough, turn the oven on and heat to 175 degrees and then turn it off.  Put rolls in oven to rise for 15 minutes, remove rolls and then turn oven to 350 degrees.  Bake as directed.
